AI Software Developer, Automotive/Commercial Vehicles
We are looking for an experienced AI Developer to join our innovative team in building high-performance software systems. If you have experience in software development, a strong background in embedded systems, and have worked with commercial vehicles, we want to hear from you!
FEV Sverige AB is a member of the FEV Group and active on the Scandinavian market since 2006. FEV has +7200 employees world-wide and develops revolutionary and efficient drive systems. FEV cross-links vehicles with each other and their surroundings and strives to make our lives safer using intelligent systems. In short, FEV can develop a complete vehicle from concept to production and simultaneously supplies the equipment to test the various vehicle components. As FEV in Sweden we represent the competencies of the FEV Group on the northern European market and ensure that our Scandinavian customers have local access to the global competence of the FEV. We are located in Gothenburg and Stockholm.
As a AI Engineer – Commercial Vehicles, you will have the following responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain embedded software components for commercial vehicle applications, using modern AI-assisted coding workflows to accelerate delivery and improve code quality.
- Implement, test, and validate control systems, communication protocols, and overall system functionality, leveraging AI tools for rapid prototyping, refactoring, and test generation.
- Collaborate with system architects, hardware engineers, and testers to ensure seamless integration, including effective use of AI tools for documentation, interface reasoning, and cross-team alignment.
- Ensure software meets the highest standards for reliability, performance, and safety in commercial vehicles, applying AI support for static analysis, edge-case discovery, and safety-focused reviews.
- Integrate software into larger system architectures (powertrain, vehicle control, chassis), using AI-driven assistance to explore design options, verify assumptions, and reduce integration risk.
- Conduct system-level integration and verification, including HIL and simulation-based testing, with AI support for test coverage analysis and automation.
- Troubleshoot and optimize software to ensure stability and performance under real-world conditions, using AI tools to speed root-cause analysis and performance tuning.
- Actively contribute to agile development processes and continuous improvement within a SAFe environment, promoting effective and responsible AI usage in the team’s development practices.
Key skills and qualifications:
- Strong capability in AI-assisted coding / AI pair programming: able to use tools like code copilots and LLMs to build, debug, refactor, and document embedded software efficiently.
- Demonstrated skill in prompt-driven development: translating system intent into clear prompts, iterating on generated code, and validating results with engineering rigor.
- Solid experience in embedded systems development (real-time, resource-constrained environments), with an ability to apply AI tools appropriately in this context.
- Proficiency in C++ and Python, including using AI to improve readability, performance, and testability of code in these languages.
- Familiarity with AUTOSAR, ROS, or similar middleware frameworks; comfortable using AI support to navigate unfamiliar APIs or legacy modules.
- Experience with system integration and communication protocols (e.g., CAN, Ethernet), with AI-aided approaches to interface testing and fault tracing.
- Knowledge of safety-critical software standards such as ISO 26262 is a plus, including awareness of the limits and governance needed when using AI in safety-related development.
- Hands-on experience working in an agile development environment, ideally using SAFe, and openness to evolving best practices around AI tooling.
Personality & Work Ethic
- Collaborative team player – thrives in cross-functional and agile teams, and shares effective AI-assisted coding patterns with others.
- Analytical and detail-oriented – validates AI-generated output carefully and ensures robust, reliable, maintainable software.
- Adaptable and proactive – embraces new tools and methods, and can move across domains in commercial vehicle systems as requirements evolve.
We understand that it may not be possible to meet all the requirements. We value a willingness to learn and see potential for growth with us. If you have some of these skills, we encourage you to apply!
What we offer:
